B cushions reach a perfect balance to my ears. Bass is just as impactful as with the F. The mids are as good as ever, and the highs recover many of the details percievable with G but not with F. These simulate the high end studio monitors experience the best. The F lean neutral-dark and the G lean neutral-bright, while these just feel right in every way to me. Now, when I describe them as neutral or balanced don't think they become boring/reference or that the famous Grado 'energy' is gone. Far from it. I'm just extremely impressed.
Not only should these come standard with all the Signature models (HP100 SE and S950, they already do on S750 and S550), many curious users should try them on the rest of the series, though of course results will vary from model to model and through every subjective opinion. Cheers!
They are as I expected; More forward, immediate and engaging at the expense of sound stage. They fit the cans perfectly, are comfortable, and stay cooler than the standard G's because they are on-ear.
Love the improved sound and feel

These new ear pads from Grado seem more like a cash grab than a genuine upgrade. Unfortunately, once you’ve tried them, they cannot be returned, which makes the purchase even more frustrating.
I tested them on my Grado GS3000e, and the results were terrible. The overall fidelity dropped noticeably, the soundstage became smaller, and the clarity suffered significantly. It almost sounds as if a filter has been placed over the music, introducing a layer of haze and reducing transparency.
Switching back to the original ear pads immediately restored the sound. Clarity improved dramatically, the presentation opened up, and the headphones once again sounded like the GS3000e I know and enjoy.
I’m not sure what equipment or listening tests Grado used when developing these pads, but on the GS3000e they were a major step backward. The stock pads are vastly superior in every way.
If I could give these less than one star, I would. Buyer beware: once you try them, you cannot return them.
Cushions and tuning are subjective, what one person likes another might not. We supply the G cushion that you prefer as the standard cushion on the GS3000 headphone, so I would assume you agree with that choice based on our testing. The B cushion gives choices to owners who might be in search of a different sound and are standard on models that are tuned to work with the stock cushions. You are correct that we do not accept returns on cushions, we don't accept returns for sanitary reason.
